Patrick Michael Chapin (Pat) passed away unexpectedly at his residence in Clayton, North Carolina on December 19th 2018, he was 54 years old.

Pat was born in Milford, MA September 19, 1964 to the late Stanley E. Chapin and Marion (Closson) Chapin and was a 1983 graduate of Nipmuc Regional High School in Mendon.

He grew up in Upton attending Upton schools then high school in Mendon. After high school he joined the Air Force and trained to become a heavy equipment operator. He was stationed for three years at Vandenberg AFB, CA where he worked for the Civil Engineering Squadron fixing and running heavy equipment, cutting fire breaks and fighting wildfires. When he returned home, Pat settled in Uxbridge, became a truck driver and worked for both E. Osterman Gas in Northbridge and then Arrow Gas out of Rochdale before getting his dream job of equipment operator on the Mass Pike where he worked from 2006 to 2016. He moved to North Carolina in late 2016.

Always a fierce competitor, Pat was an excellent soccer player at Nimpuc and extremely proud to have held a record for most goals in a season. He played softball on various teams and was a regular at Sunday morning softball at Kiwanis Beach in Upton for many years. Also an avid outdoorsman, he hunted and fished throughout the entire year. Though he enjoyed all types of fishing, he had a passion for Bass fishing and was an accomplished angler and member of several clubs including Wednesday night pick-up league, Nipmuc Bass Busters, Mass Bass Federation, Freedom Trail, American Bass Anglers #36 and the Take-a-Break Trail, among others. He won many tournaments and travelled all over the region fishing as many lakes as he could.
In 2011 he went to the state finals and won the opportunity to fish in Arkansas for a week.

Pat is survived by a son, Andrew of Uxbridge and daughter, Lindsey of Whitinsville. He is also survived by his sisters - Kathleen Porter of Upton, Bernice Fairhurst of Milford and Tracey Rhodes, also of Milford, and a brother, Stanley Chapin of Graham, Washington along with a large extended family.
