Obituary for Joseph M. Kenney

Joseph Martin Kenney, 74 of Bellingham passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Milford Regional Medical Ctr., Milford. He was the husband of Carolyn J. (McCluskey) Kenney.

Born in Pasadena, CA, he was the son of the late Thomas and Madeleine Kenney and brother of the late James Kenney. He moved to Bangor, ME at the age of seven and graduated from John Bapst High School. He went onto graduate from Providence College in 1965. Joseph’s passion for education led him to graduate coursework at Dartmouth College in NH and Catholic University in Washington, D. C.

Mr. Kenney’s career began in Vermont teaching and coaching for three years. He then worked for Goddard Flight Space Center in Maryland working on Apollo missions 7-13 where he received many accolades.

Mr. Kenney moved to Bellingham, MA in 1974 where he worked for the Foxboro Company for 35 years as a Principal Engineer. He retired in 2008. He was an active member of Bellingham Little League, Youth Basketball and the Senior Golf League in Bellingham. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Hopedale. He had also once attended a World Series, Super Bowl, and a College Baseball World Series game.

In addition to his wife, Carolyn of 53 years, he is survived by two daughters, Kathleen DeVito and her husband Paul of Grafton, and Colleen Kenney of Shrewsbury; a son, James Kenney and his wife Lisa of Hopedale; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Blasi of Kingston and Patricia George of Chapel Hill, NC and several nieces & nephews.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, July 6, 2018 from 5-8 PM in the BUMA-SARGEANT FUNERAL HOME, 42 Congress St., Milford.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 11 AM in Scared Heart Church of Hopedale, 187 Hopedale St., Hopedale. Please go directly to church.
