Anna Mary Roukema

North Providence, RI – Anna Mary Roukema, 83, formerly of Whitinsville died Wed. evening June 23, 2010 in the Hopkins Manor Ltd. in No. Providence, RI.

Ms. Roukema had been employed at the Rhode Island Association for Handicapped Persons in Woonsocket for 20 years, retiring in 1992.

Ms. Roukema was born December 10, 1926 in Tampa, FL the daughter of the late Charles and Sadie (Visser) Roukema. She was a graduate of Brandon High School, FL and attended Becker Junior College in Worcester. She had been a resident of Whitinsville, MA and No. Providence before moving to Woonsocket where she lived for 20 years, returning to North Providence in 2003.

Ms. Roukema was a member of the First Baptist Church of Woonsocket, RI. and a former member of the Pleasant Street Christian Reformed Church of Whitinsville. Anna enjoyed embroidery, reading and playing the piano.

Ms. Roukema is survived by one brother, Dr. Edward C. and his wife Dorothy Roukema of Springfield, VA., one sister, Frances J. and her husband Frederick Vogelaar of North Providence, RI and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 28, 2010 at 2 PM in the BUMA FUNERAL HOME, 101 North Main St., (Rt. 122), Uxbridge.

Interment will follow in Riverdale Cemetery, Northbridge.

Visiting hours will be Monday, June 28, 2010 from 1-2 PM prior to the funeral service.
