Rose Malkasian
Whitinsville Rose (Toumasian) Malkasian, 84, of Church St. died Wed. May 26, 2010 in the St. Camillus Health Center, Whitinsville. She was the wife of the late Ararat Hawk Malkasian who died in 2000.
Mrs. Malkasian was a sales clerk for Varkys Cleaners in Whitinsville for 30 years before her retirement in 1985. In her earlier years, she designed jewelry for the former Coro Jewelry Co. in Providence, RI.
Mrs. Malkasian was born Dec. 30. 1925 in Providence the daughter of the late Hagop and Esquhie (Papazian) Toumasian. She was a graduate of Hope High School in Providence. Rose had been a resident of Providence before moving to Whitinsville in 1945.
Mrs. Malkasian was a long time member of the Soorp Asdvadzadzin Armenian Apostolic Church in Whitinsville. She was an avid bowler and won many trophies. Rose enjoyed playing bingo at local function halls and especially enjoyed the beaches on Cape Cod.
Mrs. Malkasian and her daughter, Kathy traveled together on several cruises. Cruising was a very special time for them and they had wonderful memories of those cruises. Rose took monthly trips to the casinos with Foxy Travel.
Mrs. Malkasian is survived by one daughter, Kathleen and her husband Richard Roberts of Whitinsville, one brother, Harry Toumasian of Lincoln, RI, many nieces and nephews including Shirley Demagian of Whitinsville. She was pre-deceased by one son; Ronald M. Malkasian and one brother; Bagdasar Toumasian.
Funeral services were private and held in the Soorp Asdvadzadzin Armenian Apostolic Church in Whitinsville.
Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery, Whitinsville.
