Fernande (Boucher) Perras Larochelle

Northbridge – Fernande (Boucher) Perras Larochelle, 83, died peacefully at her home on Legion Way in Northbridge on May 27, 2010 surrounded by her loving family.
Fern was born in Northbridge on July 16, 1926, the daughter of Euclide and Herminie (Durand) Boucher. Her first husband of 26 years, Henry C. Perras passed away in 1973. Her second husband of 30 years, Joseph Larochelle passed away in 2005.

She will be sadly missed by her five children, Janyce (Perras) and her husband Paul Murray of Whitinsville, John Perras and his wife Karen (Rae) of Northbridge, Thomas Perras of Grafton, William Perras and his wife Elizabeth (Gerena) of DeLand, FL and James Perras with whom she resided, as well as by her three step-children, Mary Larochelle and her husband Dr. Val Boudreau of Wilmington, NC, Claire (Larochelle) and her husband Dr. Robert Grassi of Wolfeboro, NH and Dr. Joseph Larochelle and his wife Bonnie (Robie) of Concord, NH, 22 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and a sister, Florianne (Boucher) Sullivan of Wallingford, CT and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Reynald Boucher and Gerard Boucher.

Fern was a member of the Class of 1943 of Northbridge High School and is a graduate of Becker Junior College. During WW II, she worked for the Office of Strategic Services in Washington, DC. She later worked as a keypunch operator at the former Whitin Machine Works and Table Talk Pies. In 1988 she retired after 15 years as a secretary for the Northbridge School System.

She was a member of FINE (Friends of Northbridge Elders) and the Northbridge Senior Center where she especially enjoyed the French Club. She was an Associate of the Sisters of the Assumption in Millbury and a lifetime member of St. Peter’s Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. During her lifetime, Fern was able to do quite a bit of traveling. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading biographies and doing crossword puzzles. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family and her many close friends.
She was a kind and loving person of great faith who was an inspiration in life and death to all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the dedicated workers and volunteers of the Hospice Care of Greater Milford who helped make Fern’s final days comfortable and peaceful.

Funeral services will be held on Wed. June 2, 2010 at 9 AM from the BUMA FUNERAL HOME, 480 Church St. Whitinsville, MA 01588 with a funeral mass at 10 AM in St. Peter’s Church, 39 Church Ave., Northbridge, MA 01534 Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Providence Rd. (Rt. 122) Northbridge. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Tues. June 1, 2010 from 4-7 PM.
