Hopedale – Mary L. Bliss, 78, of Hopedale, died Thurs. Feb. 11, 2010 in Milford Regional Medical Center, Milford. She was the wife of the late Alfred J. Bliss, Jr. who died in 1974.

Mrs. Bliss was a nurse's aide at the former Adin Manor Nursing Home in Hopedale for many years.

A lifelong resident of Hopedale, Mrs. Bliss was a Communicant of Sacred Heart Church, active with the church’s Women’s Guild, and was a Eucharistic Minister. She enjoyed reading, the friendship of her neighbors at the Housing for Elders in Hopedale, and especially time spent with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Bliss is survived by her children Alfred J. Bliss, III of Worcester, Ellen and her husband Donald Kenny of Hopedale, David Bliss of Hopkinton, and Colleen and her husband Joel Leporati of Hopedale; two sisters Theresa Bushnell of Hopedale and Veronica Ragoze of Woonsocket, RI; 5 grandchildren including Stephen Bliss, Mikayla Kenny, Brianna, Meghan, and Kyle Leporati, and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two sisters Katherine Ordway and Mae Gilman.

Funeral services will be held Monday Feb.15, 2010 at 9 AM from the BUMA-SARGEANT FUNERAL HOME, 42 Congress St., Milford followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at 10 AM in Sacred Heart Church, 187 Hopedale St., Hopedale. Burial will follow in Hopedale Village Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday Feb. 14, 2010 from 2 -4 PM in the funeral home.
