Hopedale, MA. – Jerome Abbruzzese, 85, of St. Petersburg, FL and formerly of Hopedale, died Tues., Feb. 2, 2010. He was the husband of Evelyn (Cook) Abbruzzese.
Mr. Abbruzzese was a civilian employee for 30 years at US Army Natick Laboratories, Natick.
He was born June 17, 1924 in Boston, the son of the late Antonio and Carmela (Corbo) Abbruzzese.
Mr. Abbruzzese was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army.
Mr. & Mrs. Abbruzzese observed their 60th wedding anniversary on May 28, 2009.
He enjoyed growing roses and playing cards with friends and family.
In addition to his loving wife Evelyn, he is survived by his sons; Robert and his wife Maureen, Thomas and his wife Christine, and John and his partner Jan, 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Sat., Feb. 13, 2010 at 11 AM from the Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress St., Milford followed by a memorial mass at 12 Noon in Sacred Heart Church, 187 Hopedale St., Hopedale, MA 01747.
Interment will follow in Hopedale Village Cemetery, Rte. 16, Hopedale.
Visiting hours will be held Fri., Feb. 12, 2010 from 6-8 PM in the funeral home.
In lieu of donations, it is requested that a rose be planted in his memory.
