Milford – Louis P. Mele, 87, of Colonial Rd. died Mon., Jan. 11, 2010 in the Milford Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Mele was employed by the former Cushing Hospital in Framingham for 10 years, retiring in 1990. Prior to that, he had been a chauffeur for the late Eben S. Draper in Hopedale for 15 years.

A lifelong resident of Milford, he was born Feb. 22, 1922, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Gala) Mele. He attended the Sacred Heart of Jesus School and was a lifelong Communicant of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Milford. He enjoyed gardening and loved his family. Louis was known by family and friends for his love of family, industrious nature and faith.

Mr. Mele is survived by two sons; Peter Mele of Milford and Gary and his wife Cheryl Mele of Mendon, four daughters; Leslie Moore of Milford, Helayne and her husband Michael Imbruno of Hopkinton, June and her husband Barry Iadarola of Mendon and Nanci J. and her husband Thomas Speroni of Milford, one brother Savino Mele of Milford, two sisters; Josephine Burns and Lena Calzone both of Milford, 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers; James Mele who died in 1994 and Carlo J. Mele who died in 1993 and one sister Rose Saracino who died in 2008.

Funeral services will be held Fri., Jan 15, 2010 at 9 AM from the BUMA-SARGEANT FUNERAL HOME, 42 Congress St., Milford, MA 01757(www.bumafuneralhome.com) followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at 10 AM in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, “Chapel of the Holy Spouses, Mary and Joseph”, 7 East Main St., Milford.

Visiting hours will be held Thurs., Jan. 14, 2010 from 4-8 PM in the funeral home.
