Milford – Edward W. Ackerman, 82, of Westchester Dr. died Thurs. Jan. 7, 2010 in the Geriatric Authority of Milford. He was the husband of Florence E. (Rice) Ackerman.

Mr. Ackerman was a foreman at the Dennison Manufacturing Co. in Milford for 40 years, retiring in 1989.

Mr. Ackerman was born April 12, 1927 in Milford, the son of the late Joseph and Jennie V. (Kroll) Ackerman Sr. and was a lifelong resident of Milford. He graduated from Milford High School, Class of 1945 and was a member of the Sgt. John W. Powers American Legion Post 59 of Milford. He was a Communicant of St. Mary’s Church.

Mr. & Mrs. Ackerman observed their 42nd anniversary on Aug. 31, 2009 (1967.)

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son Edward W. Ackerman II of Milford, two brothers; Joseph Ackerman Jr. of Milford and James A. Ackerman of Holliston, 4 grandchildren 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons; David M. Ackerman in 1972 and Phillip T. Ackerman in 1996.

Funeral services with Full Military Honors will be held Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010 at 11 AM from the BUMA-SARGEANT FUNERAL HOME, 42 Congress St., Milford followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at 12:10 PM in St. Mary’s Church, Winter St., Milford.

Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Cedar St. (Rte. 85), Milford

Visiting hours will be held Monday, Jan. 11, 2010 from 2-5 PM in the funeral home.
